Japanese Kutani Model of a Monkey Meiji Period


This is a most charming Japanese Meiji Kutani model of a monkey dating from around 1900. The piece is beautiful gilded throughout and shows the monkey with his hands over his ears 'hear no evil'. The monkey is in good quality hard paste porcelain and has his fur in gold brushstrokes and his face and hands are picked out in red and black. This is in great condition with no damage or restoration.
The figure measures 12 cms high and is 8 cms wide and 8 cms deep.
