This is a rare and most wonderful Japanese lacquer table cabinet in the form of a very pretty pagoda. The cabinet dates from the Meiji period and has a delightful crackle glaze lacquer to the outside, hand painted and gided with beautiful cranes, and realistic rice paper coverings to the door and windows.
The pagoda opens out to reveal an interior which is fitted with an amazing and incredibly beautiful collection of little trays, boxes and containers. Altogether this is composed of 26 individual hand crafted pieces. They are all painstakingly lacquered, hand painted and gilded with cranes and blossoms and have a wonderful bright red lacquer inside. The quality and precision of the work is quite stunning.
The cabinet is in very good overall condition and measures 24 cms high, 18 cms wide and is 13 cms deep.
