An attractive Japanese Meiji period shodana (Japanese cabinet) on stand. Having Yosegi work marquetry throughout and lacquered panels to the doors one depicting an oriental character with butterflies amongst flora and fauna, the other similar with a Geisha girl with fan. The lid lifts to a black lacquer and portioned interior with 2 red lacquer lids below is a full width drawer above the 2 doors which open to reveal 6 Yosegi worked graduated drawers again black lacquer lined. The cabinet has bronzed metal handles, hinges and escutcheons and is in very good condition. Dimensions:- Height… 29''/ 73.5cm. Width…19.5''/ 49.5cm. Depth…10.5''/ 26.5cm.
