Japanese Wakizashi.
A Koto Wakizashi with a blade dating from the early 16oos. The blade is in full polish with a very nice midare hamon. Length of blade to the Habaki is 21 inches. The tand is unsigned. The tsuba is of excellent quality with highlights in gilt. The fittings are bronze but have darkend with age.The Menuki still retain all of their gilding. The hilt was originally bound with silk thread but this is unraveling and half of it is missing and will need sorting. The red enameled scabbard has a few small faults but nothing serious. The cost to have the hilt professionally rebound is app £110.Any cheaper and it wouldnt be done right. Post is charged at cost.
