Jobling Opalique Art Deco Bowl

The item for sale is a quite rare Jobling Art Deco Opalique pressed glass Salad or Fruit Bowl in the Fish pattern. This bowl dates to Pre 1935, as after this date they had received a Reg. Trademark No. (552558) and this bowl has 'Regn. Applied For' impressed in the base.
The Company began as the Wear Flint Glass Works and after several changes of ownership became James A. Jobling & Co. in 1921. In 1933 they began producing 'Opalique', a range of Art Deco glassware inspired by the designs of Rene Lalique and made from molds commissioned by Frankhauser, the most prominent Parisian art-glass mold-maker. This range was short lived, due to the recession of the 1930s and the advent of the 1939-1945 war.
