John Strickland Goodall, celebrated illustrator and painter, studied at Harrow and the Royal Academy of Arts, later settling in Tisbury, Wiltshire. He became renowned for his delicate watercolours and illustrated books that vividly brought to life Victorian and Edwardian social scenes.
