Lacquered Papier Mache Snuff Box w/ Abalone Inlay
This is a smart late 19th or early 20th century Lacquered Papier Mache Snuff Box. The snuff box has an attractive border of abalone shell fragments and a central oval abalone shell cartouche. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
As is usually the case with these snuff boxes, there are no identifying marks to show where it was made or by whom. Stylistically it is most likely to be British from the late 19th or early 20th century.
Condition is very good with just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. The lid is a very tight fit, which you want to keep snuff fresh. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The snuff box measures is 6.8cm / 2.7ins by 3.8cm / 1.5ins wide and is 1.6cm / 0.63ins deep. It weighs 25.4g / 0.89oz.
