Lamb of Manchester Chest of Drawers.

Splendid late 19th.c. mahogany chest of drawers by the celebrated English cabinet makers Lamb of Manchester. Founded by James Lamb the company worked with several notable designers of the day to produce antique furniture of the highest quality. They became especially well known for their Gothic Revival and Aesthetic Movement inspired work, often featuring ebonised detail.
A fine example of their work here with solid top, sides and drawer fronts with carved an ebonsided ‘tramline’ detail, hardwood linings and a shaped apron at the feet. In addition to the exceptional quality of the piece the Lamb tradition is continued with the extraordinary and original aesthetic movement brass and copper handles retained on each drawer. Excellent unrestored condition. Clearly Stamped ‘Lamb Manchester’ on the top right hand drawer front.
