Large 18thC Stay Busk Love Token - Lovespoon
A beautiful and rare 18th century Stay busk. A traditional form of love token worn behind the front of a ladies whale bone ribbed corset. An alternative to the well recorded tradition of gifting a Welsh love spoon made personally by a willing suitor.
Carved from a single piece of sycamore featuring sweetly carved details and initialled MC with date 1791.
An excellent example of desirable large size in perfect condition and being both initialled and dated make this a most desirable piece.
Length 12.5" = 32cm
