A capstan is a wooden apparatus used for hoisting weights, consisting of a vertical spool-shaped cylinder that is rotated manually or by machine and around which a cable is wound.
This one is made from solid birch wood with an iron centre.
An unusual yet decorative piece of 19th century, English maritime history, in very good solid condition.

We offer a 14 day return service if you are not happy with the item. This is providing that items are returned within 14 days and are in the same condition that they left us in. The cost of returning the goods must be covered by you. We will refund you on the items return.
