This attractive map of the County of Oxford has been professionally mounted and framed. It is of large proportions. The map is hand-coloured and we believe it to be an original item dating from 1834. The title on the right-hand side reads 'Map of the County of Oxford from an Actual Survey Made in the Years 1831 & 1832 by C. & J. Greenwood, Published by the Proprietors Greenwood & Co. 3 Burleigh Street, Strand, London. Corrected to the Present Period and Published April 1st 1834. Engraved by J. & C. Walker'. There is a vingnette of Oxford Cathedral in the bottom left-hand corner. The frame is wooden with walnut veneers.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is good condition with some wear consistent with age. The map itself is discoloured with age and has some wear to the surface of the paper in places. The hand-colouring is faded and not vibrant. some light dustiness and wear. There is some grubbiness and scuffiing to the frame.

Map - 58cm high, 70.5cm wide
