The grandest and largest of it's kind I have had, this is as good as they get.

This English Sterling Silver Jewellery box stands on four cast silver feet. The underside has a full English hallmark for London 1916 together with the makers mark for the Goldsmith's and Silversmith's Company and a separate signature with the London address.

The top panel is made from a large and stunning panel of period tortoise shell with colours ranging from golden Champagne to rich chocolate brown. The shell in turn is inlaid with the most exquisite engraved silver pique, pretty as a picture.

The box unusually has a lock and retains it's original key. The interior is as impressive retaining the original finish in silk and velvet.

An impressive piece measuring 9" x 6" x 2 3/8" tall. Excellent condition.
