Large French Cast Iron Garden Planter Louis XV
Weathered garden planter or jardieniere of elegant shape. Quality French casting from the late 19th century. It has a highly decorative look of an asymmetrical centre with scrolling foliage and flowers. Typical of a Louis XV & Rococo style.
The regal look is accentuated by a centre top made of a design of scrolls with underneath a large medallion surrounded by a pattern of cross hatching and flowers. The shape of the pot is defined by the lovely curved edging. Probably the best feature of this magnificent planter is that both sides carry the same decoration. This makes it possible to be used as a centre piece on a patio or table as there is no defined front section and arrangements can be viewed from all sides if required.
This large plant pot is just over 60cm in length. Hence providing plenty of scope for larger arrangements of plants or herbs. Four scrolled feet keep the main body of the container off the ground, and a pre-drilled hole keeps excess water at bay. At its highest point the planter stands 27cm tall, making it large enough for the garden but it could also be considered for indoor use, for instance in a conservatory. This item is heavy, even when not planted up yet.
