A superbly executed large Japanese Meiji Period gouache painting on silk of two geishas in traditional dress holding umbrellas to keep off the falling snow. It is in its original late 19th/early 20th century reeded ebonised frame and original glass.

The painted white faces of the geishas, the elegant styling of their hair and their elaborate kimonos and platformed sandals are all beautifully rendered by the artist.

Condition: The painting is in very good antique condition with some marks commensurate with its age. The ebonised frame is in good overall condition having been touched up in a few places in our workshop. The backboard has been replaced in recent year with a thin plywood panel.

Delivery: Due to its large size and the need to protect the antique glass we are recommending that this picture is hand-delivered. The cost of this is approximately £60 to most places on mainland England and Wales. Please provide your postcode for a more accurate quote.
