Large Mahogany Triple Breakfront Mirrored Wardrobe
A lovely large antique Victorian carved mahogany wardrobe. We date this wardrobe to the second half of the 19th century.
The wardrobe comes in four sections: a large central and left hand single hanging section, a right hand single hanging section, a plinth base and a separate cornice.
The wardrobe sits on a protruding plinth breakfront base. The separate cornice has a lovely upward curved shape.
The front of the wardrobe is of a three panel design with the central door featuring a large single mirror door with ornate mouldings above. The mirrored door is flanked by two recessed doors with arched mouldings. The wardrobe is fitted with locks (keys supplied).
The interior of the two outer hanging sections are each fitted with a side to side hanging rail, there is a large drawer to the base area on each side. The right hand side also has a single brass hook to the rear. The central section is fitted with a top shelf over seven linen press drawers.
The wardrobe has a height of of 86" (218cm), a cornice width of 71" (180cm) and a central cornice depth of 27" (69cm).
The wardrobe has outer internal hanging depths of 18.5” (47cm) with hanging widths of 16.5” (42cm).
This lovely large Victorian carved mahogany wardrobe remains in good condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There is some minor foxing to the mirror, there is some light wear to the finish with some indents to some edges of the doors. There are a few old repairs to the base and the locks have been replaced at some point in its life. The central lock has been adapted to work the central door.
This remains a very stylish and elegant large mirror door triple wardrobe which will continue to provide sterling service for many years to come.
