Late 17thc Laburnum Oyster Veneered Chest

Late 17th Century Laburnum Oyster Veneered Chest: A Collector's Gem. This chest is a rare and highly desirable piece of antique furniture. This exquisite chest is characterised by its elegant design and unique materials.
Key features include:
• Laburnum veneer: Laburnum is a hardwood known for its distinctive yellow-green colour and attractive grain pattern. It was often used in veneering to create decorative surfaces on antique furniture.
• Oyster veneering: This technique involves cutting thin strips of wood into shapes that resemble oyster shells. These shapes are then arranged in a decorative pattern on the chest's surface.
• Two short and three long drawers: The chest typically has two shorter drawers at the top and three longer drawers below, providing ample storage space.
• Boxwood banding: Boxwood is a dense, fine-grained hardwood that was often used for banding or edging on furniture. It creates a contrasting border around the oyster veneer.
• Cushion mould on bracket feet: The chest is supported by bracket feet, which are shaped like brackets or shelves. The feet are often adorned with a cushion mould, a decorative moulding that resembles a cushion.
