Impressive late 19th.c. gilt overmantle mirror c.1880. Standing over six feet tall the mirror is easily big enough to be used on the floor as a full length dressing mirror in a bedroom or frock shop perhaps. Arch top 49″ x 69″ mirror plate within a gilded wooden frame with elaborate moulded details flanked with a fine pair of fluted columns with Corinthian capitals. Scrolling acanthus leaf brackets at the base and topped with a pair of urn shaped finials. Original gilding, mellowed with age and worn in places but no signs of re-touching. Later mirror plate, original backboards.
