Circa 1890, late Victorian carved oak open bookcase. The rectangular top has a large moulded fore edge above a carved frieze with a concentric carved centre and foliate carving on both sides. Below this are 2 adjustable shelves, flanked by carved facings either side almost in the form of pilasters. There are 2 fielded panels on the gables of the bookcase and beneath the bottom shelf there is a stylish moulding and a simply decorated apron. The whole bookcase stands on small bracket feet front and back. The bookcase is clean, very sturdy, neat size and mellow in colour.
