Late Victorian Mahogany Adjustable Reading Table
A late Victorian mahogany adjustable reading table. The rectangular top has an inset gilt-tooled leather writing surface which adjusts on a notched support, flanked by shallow side drawers and raised on turned legs united by a shaped lower tier.
Designed for seated use beside a low chair or armchair, the tilting surface brings books and papers towards the user for reading or correspondence. Well suited to a library corner, drawing room or bedroom.
Very good antique condition with light surface wear consistent with age. The mechanism operates correctly, the structure is sound. Clean and ready to place in the home.
