Late Victorian Sheraton Revival Roll Top Desk
Superb late Victorian Sheraton revival roll top desk in mahogany. The drawers and top surfaces are crossbanded in satinwood and ebony whilst there is boxwood stringing throughout, even the tambour (if you were to check for other available desks at a similar price I can nearly guarantee they won't have this stringing on the tambour/roll). The handles to the drawers are cast brass and original, whilst the two knobs on the tambour are later similar replacements. The interior still retains the inkwells which will swivel out of sight(another unusual feature to the desk). The drawer linings are solid mahogany and when the tambour is closed all the drawers lock automatically. All in superb condition, it's a very well made desk with very unique features.
