Le Cheminant London Bell striking Carriage Clock
A fine quality French strike/repeat/alarm carriage antique clock by J Le Cheminant. An earlier example with a finely floral engraved two-tone case. An enamel dial with subsidiary alarm dial and signed 'J LE CHEMINANT, WIMPOLE STREET LONDON' and also engraved to the mechanism back plate. A sound fretted base panel. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a bell with alarm set. Push button repeating. Numbered 1244. Circa 1870.
Le Cheminant was a retailer in Wimpole Street, London from 1857-1875.
