This is a very fine and small English mantle/bracket/library antique clock dating from the middle of the 19th Century by Barwise , London which is only 8 3/4 inches tall.
This eminent firm was founded by John Barwise of Cockermouth in 1780 when he moved and settled at 29 St Martins Lane opening a high class watch and clockmaking business . He died in 1820 and the business continued with his sons Weston and John where it flourished. until 1842 when a failed business venture failed and the ruined the firm with John retiring in 1855,
This single fusee chain driven 8 day duration movement is of typical high quality as produced in London at the time and is in perfect working condition .
The larger than average sized movement can be viewed on all sides and the top through the thick bevelled glasses and this design is very often refered to a as a library clock as many gentleman's libraries were furnished with such an item.
The case is veneered on all sides in exotic Satinwood and is of an unusual style being decorated with complicated carvings and mouldings making this clock much more decorative than the style normally seen.
The finish and colour are outstanding with a deep gloss finish and the case has developed a lovely colour over the years which re polished antique clocks simply cannot attain.
The case has simply been professionally cleaned and waxed and the results are very pleasing
The 3 1/2 inch silvered and engraved brass dial has very good clarity and is signed by the makers.
I am afraid that my limited photographic skills do not show this clock at its best and a personal viewing is recommended and any professional appraisal is welcomed.
I offer a full money back guarantee as to the authenticity of this antique clock.I also welcome any expert appraisal whatsoever.

The clock is only 8 3/4 inches tall , the widest part of the clock is 6 7/8 inches and it is 4 5/8 inches deep.
