London & Birmingham Railway Centenary Medal

Printed in the lid:
On the occasion of the opening of the
London & Birmingham Railway on the 17th
September 1938 Philip Hardwick, the architect,
presented the Directors and Officers of the
Company with a medal depicting Euston Arch
on the obverse and the names of the board on
the reverse.
The enclosed medal has been struck to commemorate the Centenary of the opening of the London & Birmingham Railway.
Approximate dimensions: diameter 64.8mm, weight 132.2 grams, weight with box 217.2 grams.
As the photos show, the lid is now detached from the base but the card box is otherwise in very good condition.
The medal is in great condition.
