London Silver Repousse Pair Cased Verge, C1690

Ed. Patrick
London
c1690
Silver repousse case
57 mm.
Verge, mock pendulum
An early London silver repousse pair cased verge, with mock pendulum balance, all in nice condition.
MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with a large, engraved, winged balance cock . This has a cut out to reveal the mock pendulum blued steel bob. Nice blued steel screws and steel work.
Signed 'Ed. Patrick, London'. In fine original condition and running well.
DIAL : Signed silver champleve dial, in excellent condition. Good blued steel hands, of the correct period and style, which could be original.
INNER CASE : Silver, with maker's mark IHG below a crown (rubbed).
Good condition throughout, though the bow and stem have been replaced (and reinforced). The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. The high dome, bull's eye crystal is fine.
OUTER CASE : Silver repousse, engraved with scrolls around the bezel, portraits and cartouches to the edge and a classical Greek scene to the centre. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. The catch button is topped with a faceted green stone or glass.
There is some wear to the repousse work especially to the centre of the back and the top edge of the bezel. The bezel has an old repair on the inside, just below the hinge.
Free worldwide postage.
Payments by cheque, bank transfer, credit & debit cards and Paypal accepted.
