London Walnut Month going Longcase


ASSELIN, LONDON
A fine quality month duration walnut longcase clock. A caddy hood pediment with double blind fretwork panels. A light walnut case with crossbanding. Side glass hood panels. An 11 3/4 brass dial with silvered chapter ring and strike/silent at 9 o'clock position. Bolt and shutter maintaining power with pull cord. Pull repeating cord to a rack of 5 bells to the 5 pillar, month duration mechanism.
Francis and Stephen Asselin of London worked from 1687-1717 as recorded in Loomes 'The Early Clockmakers of Great Britian'. The antique clock has come directly from a deceased estate. The clock case had some restoration and veneer replacement in the 1940's.
