MAHOGANY CASED 8-DAY LONGCASE CLOCK
A superb quality antique clock with an 8-day painted dial movement which has been fully restored. The case is veneered in curl or flame mahogany and to either side of the hood door there are turned and fluted columns with brass splines and brass capitals above and below. There are inspection windows to see the movement either side of the hood. In the pagoda top there is a very fine fretted panel with silk behind. In the arch of the dial there is Britannia holding her trident and union flag shield with the British Lion at her feet, and to the left of Britannia there are 2 old galleons in the distance. The dial itself has roman numerals, a seconds ring and a date ring with the makers name Thompson of Woodbridge (near Ipswich in Suffolk)
