Mahogany Wardrobe By James Shoolbred %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A profusely inlaid, mahogany, wardrobe made by James Shoolbred of Tottenham Court Road, London. The company James Shoolbred and Co. started producing very high quality antique furniture in the 1870’s and continued through until they ceased trading in 1931. This wardrobe, along with all of Shoolbreds antique furniture, shows some of the finest cabinet making skills there has been. The drawers have beautifully hand cut dovetails and have super quality, original, solid brass handles. The serpentine top mirrors to the wardrobe doors are in good condition and are bevelled all round. Inside the centre cupboard, above the 4 drawers, there is a single shelf. In the side wardrobes, at one side, there is a high level shelf with a hanging rail beneath and to the other side there are coat hooks and a drawer at the bottom. At the top of all this there is a dentil cornice with an inlaid frieze. Matching this wardrobe, but advertised and priced separately, is a dressing table with all the same attributes as the wardrobe PriceSOLD DimensionsWidth (carcase) 72.5”(184cm) Width (inc. cornice) 78” (198cms) Depth (carcase) 21” (53cms) Depth (inc. cornice) 24” (61cms) Height 86.5" (220cm Category Antique Furniture Date 1900  1900s Antiques Material Mahogany Origin English Maker James Shoolbred Condition excellent Item code as158a089 Status Sold
