Stunning oil on board painting by frank hendry of shipping tanker in River Mersey.

Frank Hendry's immediately recognisable paintings of docks and the Liverpool skyline won him many admirers, and led to his work being exhibited in the Houses of Parliament, among many other places.
He also served as a glider pilot with the RAF in World War II, taking part in one of the last campaigns of the war with the Rhine crossings, and went on to become a journalist and teacher of more than 20 years' experience. Among the schools where he taught was the Blue Coat.

Birkenhead-born Mr Hendry's wartime service included a spell as an auxiliary fireman during the Liverpool Blitz, an experience which inspired a number of his later paintings.
