Superb mid 19th.c. burr walnut pier cabinet or bookcase display c.1870. Just 30½” wide with an unusual ogee arch glazed door fitted inside with a single shelf (internal depth 9″). Beautifully figured burr walnut veneers across the top, front and sides, with fine floral pattern marquetry inlays to the front. High quality and large gilded ormolu mounts of prince’s heads to the pilasters either side of the door, plus additional pierced mounts below and extensive gilded moundings across the piece, all original. Raised on a tall plinth, also veneered to match and with a shaped lower edge. Excellent condition, with original velvet linings. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
