Dated 1966 this is a superb early example of Mary Fedden's work. It is utterly charming. A watercolour on board simply, even cheaply, framed probably by the artist herself. The frame is a little chipped in a couple of places, but I have not replaced or repaired it as I believe it to be utterly authentic and original.

Mary Fedden (1915-2012) b. Bristol, attended the Slade from 1932-36 after which she taught and designed for Sadlers Wells. She had an exhibition in 1967 in Heals London, where this painting may well have been first seen and purchased. It has not been on the market since. There is a huge amount to be found out about her on the internet.
