We are offering this lovely oval watercolour portrait ofa very attractive young lady, which is signed to the left side with the initials M.E.B. and dated 1911. The lady is wearing evening dress and has a teardrop shaped pendant on a chain around her neck. The dress is off the shoulder and is made is a gauzy white fabric such as organza. Her dark hair is parted in the centre and is swept out and up at the sides and into a knot at the nape of her neck.

As yet, we have been unable to discover the full name of the artist, although we feel that he, or possibly she, may have been a miniaturist, due to the very fine technique employed. We did find a couple of watercolour landscapes with these initials, but they were obviously by a different hand.

However, the painting has been beautifully executed by a professional hand and is mounted with a narrow gold mount, with its original glass and is encased in its delicate, pierced gilt original frame. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
