Metamorphic Table & Bench c.1880.
Ingenious 19th.c. metamorphic table and bench c.1880. Solid pitch pine boards on pierced cast iron supports. Stands as a two tier table with 23″ x 72″ top at 30″ hight. Ideal as a slim kitchen dining table or shop display perhaps. Loosen the bolts at the side to allow the top to hinge over and become the backrest to a long bench. Alternatively the top can be held in a tilted position to form a sloping desk. A portion of the ironwork under the table top has been removed to allow it to sit at a better angle as a backrest. Otherwise original through, simply cleaned and waxed.
