We are offering for sale this attractive oil painting on canvas by the Midlands artist Michael Scott, who has signed the painting Scott in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts an old sandstone wall with what appears to be periwinkle (vinca) growing over it, as well as another plant that we can't identify. The artist has very cleverly executed the shadows of the leaves and flowers falling on the surface of the stones, thereby giving depth to the painting.

Unfortunately we have been unable to discover any biographical details about the artist and, as we have so little details other than his name, cannot even find out when he was born or died, if indeed he has died, as there are so many people with this name. However, we believe that he was resident somewhere in the Midlands.

The painting has been expensively mounted with washlines and pale green insert and framed in a 1 5/8" mottled, reeded frame. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.

Condition: Excellent condition. The swept frame has some fine age cracking but is quite stable and has no losses.
