This is a mid-century, camphor wood trunk.

Slightly smaller than most, making it ideal for use as a coffee table, this profusely carved chest is of immense interest with scenes depicting peacocks, sailing boats, fishermen, flora and fauna.

Raised on block feet with the carving extending to the floor, the trunk features handles to either end and a brass catch plate engraved with birds and floral detail.

Lifting the hinged lid reveals a removable tray above useful storage accompanied by the glorious camphor aroma delighting the senses. The maker's plate reading 'Liberal Brand, Guaranteed 100% Genuine Camphor Wood, Made in Hong Kong'.
