This is a very stylish Mid-Century Sterling Silver Tie Clip. It is fully hallmarked and made in Birmingham by Alexander Clark & Co, dating to 1953. Alexander Clark & Co were both a manufacturing silversmith and a high end retailer with premises in Fenchurch Street and Oxford Street in London. The company was founded in the late 1890s and was in business up until the mid-1970s. This would have been a very expensive and luxurious purchase back in the 1950s.

The Tie Clip has a typically mid-century linear design which still looks contemporary today. It has definitely been used but remains in good condition with just a couple of tiny nicks to the edges. The hallmarks on the back of the Tie Clip are well struck and clear to read. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The clip is 6.1cm long and made in a good gauge of silver, weighing in at 6.6g.
The hallmarks are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "D" for 1953, the Queen's Coronation stamp and the A.C. Co Ld makers' mark for Alexander Clark & Co.
