MILDRED ANNE BUTLER, RA, RWS, 1858-1941, (Irish) Among the ripples and reeds, watercolour, signed lower left and inscribed with title verso 6 x 9ins. Provenance: Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours, Exhibit no. 277 Winter Exhibition 1911, Label verso with "Mildred Anne Butler, Kilmurray, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny". James Eccles was a noted mountaineer and geologist. From the label it would appear that he purchased this picture from a Royal Society exhibition in 1911 and had it delivered to his home in Kensington at 15 Durham Villas on 20 December, 1911.
