This is a particulary nice miniature carriage antique clock which can be dated to the last quarter of the 19th Century and is decorated with beautiful Limoges enamel panels.
?The 8 day timepiece movement is in perfect working order having been professionally cleaned and bears the manufacturers stamp of Drocourt and the serial number of 15340 . It is of superb quality and retains its original silvered platform escapement.
Pierre & Alfred Drocourt were one of the top makers of carriage antique clocks in the mid to late Victorian period, having a factory at Saint-Nicolas-d’Ailermont in France, which was the most important town for carriage clock manufacture at the time. They also had premises in Paris at Rue Debelleyme 28 and Rue de Limoges.
Pierre & Alfred Drocourt made superb carriage clocks that were often decorative and were awarded numerous medals at exhibitions, such as the Bronze Medal at Paris 1867, the Silver at Paris 1878 and the gold at Paris in 1889.
The son, Alfred Drocourt, succeeded his father Pierre Drocourt sometime in the 1870s.
?
The case style is a simplified variant of the gorge case called the Cannelee which has been nickel plated from new and the silver colour really enhances the dark Limoges enamel panels which are remarkably well detailed and highlighted by subtle flesh tone colours . Importantly they are in perfect , undamaged condition.
?Unusually the original winding key is present and similary plated.
?The leather bound case is also in excellent condition
The overall condition is lovely . There is a tiny amount of the brass showing through in parts if you look very closely but this is hugely exaggerated in the images due to the high magnification. In normal use it virtually cannot be seen.
The images should show prospective buyers all they need to see but a personal inspection is very welcome.
? ? ? The clock is 3 inches tall ,handle down and 3 3/4 with the handle raised. It is 2 inches wide and 1 3/4 deep
Although I provide detailed photographs to the best of my ability this clock really needs to be personally viewed to appreciate to quality.
This is a genuine and original clock and I offer a full money back guarantee to this end.
