This is a highly decorative and impressive pair of large Japanese Satsuma style crackle glaze ceramic lamp bases dating from circa 2000.

The form of each lamp is that of a lidded ginger jar which is decorated by two large panels of geishas in traditional kimonos separated by panels containing long-tailed phoenixes on a background of geometric patterns many of which are highlighted in gold. The latter decoration continues onto the lidded part of the pot. The lamps stand on wooden felt covered bases.

Dimensions:
Height 39 cm to the ring on which a shade is supported.
Diameter 25 cm. Each lamp weighs 3.8 kg.
One of the photographs shows the lamp bases matched with ivory linen tapered drum shades with 40cm (16 inch) diameter bases and 26 cm high. This would give a total height of about 60 cm. The shades are not included but similar shades can be purchased online for about £20 each plus P&P.

Condition: The lamps are in perfect working condition. They come with a good length of gold coloured cable and a fused black 3-pin plug.
