Beautiful Nicole Freres Antique cylinder music box dating to 1854.
Nicole Freres are known as the Rolls Royce of music boxes and this one shows why, it pays 6 airs and has the original paper tune sheet present on the inside lid.
A good strong mainspring plays the whole program, the Geneva stop-work is present and works correctly, the mechanism has been cleaned and oiled and plays perfectly, the stop and start lever works correctly although the fan occasionally needs a flick to start the governor, the third control lever also works as it should.
All tunes play as they should after eachother or the repeat function can be deployed.
There are two or three teeth missing but these can be replaced, the sound is beautiful and deep, the winding key is present.
The case is in lovely condition and is 18 inches x 7 inches in size.
