Nocturne, Oil on Board James Lawrence Isherwood (7 April 1917 – 9 June 1989)

James Lawrence Isherwood was born and lived in Wigan where he devoted his life to painting. Since his death in the late 1980's, the value of Isherwood's original paintings has increased steadily. Isherwood painted a number of celebrities including Gracie Fields and boasts famous owners of his work including Prince Charles and LS Lowry.

As with many artist in his lifetime Isherwood was underrated and made a meagre living, but as taste in home décor have changed his abstract and colourful work has found a great new setting within modern interiors.
