Oak and Brass Letter Box - Post & Delivery c.1890
A handsome English Victorian solid oak letter box with two compartments with very decorative fan shaped pierced brass panels to the front and an engraved "Post" label and the polished brass "Delivery" label attached to the rear compartment.
These boxes would have been present in large country houses, a member of the household staff would have emptied the contents and taken the letters either to the Post Office or hand delivered.
Dating to c.1890, it remains in excellent condition. 6 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 5 7/8" tall at the rear.
