Oak and Brass Stationery / Letter Box c.1890
A very handsome and unusual letter box, this design I haven't seen before.
Made from solid English Oak, the front has two sections with pierced or reticulated brass panels, one marked "Post" and one marked "Delivery". These boxes would have been used in smart houses, private clubs and hotels, letters would be placed in the front for a member of the staff to either take to the Post Office or hand deliver most civilised !
Excellent condition measuring 13" x 6 1/2" x 10" tall including the bracket allowing wall-hanging. Victorian in era, dating to 1890 / 1900.
