A plain and simple 18th century oak coffer featuring a traditional planked top which is fixed with original ring hinges. The base section has panels to all four sides, which are plain in design as it is quite unusual as many of these pieces have been carved into at a later stage. The base and sides are all original, and are in a beautiful warm chestnut colour. There is a small expansion crack to the left hand side panel, but you must appreciate, for a piece of antique furniture of this age, there will be signs of general wear and tear. This oak coffer is a good sturdy piece of furniture ideal for any period property.
