Oil painting on cardboard depicting Capri.

Description: The work depicts a glimpse of the island of Capri. On the left, a calm, transparent sea extends, while on the right, an imposing rocky cliff adorned with typical Mediterranean scrub dominates.
In the background, the cove features pale architectural structures, where the warm, natural light illuminates the rocky profiles, enhancing their volumes.
The painting is textured yet precise, influenced by the Impressionist painting inherited from his grandfather, James Talmage White.
Biography.
White Valentino (Positano, 1909 – Ravello, 1985)
A painter of remarkable talent, White Valentino showed a marked aptitude for painting and drawing from a young age, despite his father's initial resistance, which prevented him from pursuing formal art studies.
While still very young, he moved to Capri, where he began working in professional photography. At the same time, he perfected his painting technique by following the "indirect school" of his grandfather, the famous English painter James Talmage White.
During his life, Valentino lived in several significant places in Campania, including the slopes of Vesuvius, in the municipality of Torre del Greco, and later in Ravello, where he settled permanently. His artistic career took off in the 1950s, when he established himself thanks to a series of highly successful exhibitions held in Rome. Among the highlights of his exhibition career was his participation in the 12th edition of the Interprovincial Art Exhibition of the Fascist Union of Fine Arts of Campania, held in Naples in 1942, where he presented the work Impressione.
He spent the last years of his life in Rome, leaving a significant mark on the artistic scene of his time.
