The painting is a portrait of a Major in the Warwickshire Yeomanry, by his badge and the rank markings on his cuffs.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
John Bernard Munns RBSA NSA was the son of the portrait painter Henry Turner Munns. He studied Birmingham School of Art. Exhibited at RA Paris Salon etc. from 1888.
FRAME:
Reframed with gilt plain wooden frame
This desirable portrait is painted in great detail and is an accurate depiction of the officer shown holding his cap in his right arm with leather gloves clasped tightly in his left hand.
Noticeably the Major is shown with his sword hung by his left side.
