Omega Open Face Steel Pocket Watch
Made in Switzerland - circa 1915
WORLDWIDE SHIPPING!!
This elegant Art Novo steel open-face pocket watch was made by Omega in Switzerland, circa 1915.
DIAL: The white enamel dial has distinctive black Arabic numerals with an unusual red coloured 12. The dial has golden Louis XV hands and a subsidiary second’s dial at the six. The dial is signed in the upper centre “OMEGA”.
MOVEMENT: The anchor lever escapement movement has a plain cock with a polished steel regulator and blued steel over the coil hairspring. The movement is signed: “OMEGA” and numbered 4104236. The movement is in great working condition. However, we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique pocket watch.
CASE: The watch lies in a steel open face case with a smooth finish. The inner covette reads “Omega Grand Prix Paris 1900” and is adorned with various medals. The case is signed “OMEGA” and numbered 4937892. There is a slight dent on the back of the case.
Signed: OMEGA – Swiss Made – 1915
Diameter: 50 mm – Weight: 89.60 gr
Omega: The watch making firm Omega was founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in Le Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. In 1880, it moved to its current location in Bienne, Switzerland. At the beginning, the company was not referred to as Omega. The name was later christened in 1894, when a watch model, the “Omega” was launched. As one of the world’s better known watch companies, they have been the official timekeepers for the Olympic Games, since 1932 and have also been supplying American and Russian astronauts with their “moon watch” since 1965 and 1975 respectively. The firm has been a member of the Swatch Group since 1983.
