Original Art Nouveau Brass Door Plates
Here we have a pair of original period Art Nouveau brass door plates. There are modern reproductions of this design available but these came from an Art Nouveau era house and are the genuine article.
The design is classic Art Nouveau with its sinuous organic flowers growing up the length of the plate and there is a nod to the Arts & Crafts movement with the planished or hammered elements of the plant and the rim that goes all the way round the plate.
They are in good period condition with some signs of wear and a lovely patina to the brass that is only acquired after many years of use and cleaning. They are perfectly usable today and would look stunning in a home or building of the Art Nouveau era.
The plates are 28.7cm / 11" high and 7.5cm / 3" wide. Each one is pierced with six holes to allow them to be screwed to a door.
