Outstanding Aesthetic Ebonised Birds Eye Maple

This is an outstanding aesthetic period hexagonal table with a wonderful colour and patina. The stylish table has an incised ebonised design with gilt highlighted detail and beautiful birds eye maple veneer with a stunning grain and rich colour. The fine quality of the piece is evident in the solid gilt bronze beading that borders the top edges of the table as well as around the base. There are a couple of small repairs to the ebony veneer in one section of the surface as photographed. The table has its original porcelain castors and central turned finial. The central cartouche to the top surface is in ebony inlaid with carved figures.
A very fine example with all the classic aesthetic hallmarks dating from around 1870.
The table retains a paper label to the underside Eywood which was one of England’s lost country houses. A fine mansion and seat of the Harleys, earls of Oxford & Mortimer in Titley, Herefordshire. The house was built in in 1705 but was demolished in the early 1950s.
The table measures 66 cms in 66 cms diameter and is 73 cms high.
Delivery can be arranged with our local antique furniture courier to most UK destinations for £55 plus vat.
