P. Vale 19th C. Watercolour Bridge of Sighs Venice

This is a 19th Century watercolour by the artist P. Vale, who has signed the painting in the lower left hand corner. The painting depicts a view of The Bridge of Sighs in Venice, with a gondolier steering his covered gondola along the narrow canal, which exits into the Venice Lagoon. The Bridge of Sighs, is a famous Venetian landmark and this covered bridge leads from the the Doge's Palace on the left, to the prison, where unfortunates were incarcerated, hence the name.
As there is a stamp on the back of the paper, either the paper, or the watercolour was sold at a shop or gallery called E. Mettisi, at 58 San Marco, Venice, as shown. We have been unable to decipher the first word at the top of the stamp, but the second word is aquarelli, which is Italian for Watercolours.
Unfortunately, we have been unable to discover any biographical or auction results information about the artist, so it is possible that this name is a pseudonym.
The painting has been newly double mounted in two-tone acid free mountboard and is framed in a 7/8" gilt frame to suit. It is ready to hang.
