Pair 1930s Oak Stacking “Barristers” Bookcases 1930s Bookcases Oak %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Looking jolly good and so pleasing to bag a matching pair of these handsome 1930s stacking bookcases in a pleasing tone of British oak. These are of a useful height and with sensible proportions, a stack of 3 graduated open front up and over doors with well-shaped bottoms and tops finishing off the look.

The doors open by way of the original and rather eye-catching little Bakelite knobs to give you enough space to line up some books or display your treasures. Both have a similar tone and grain having come from the same property.

Workshop report – The bookcases are in good vintage order. The tone is good and as mentioned, all the original little knobs are in situ. They do have day to day marks and scuffs of course but nothing drastic. We have cleaned the bookcases and lightly waxed them. The drawers run fine – but do not expect modern day velocity remember they are 90 years old! They smell fine and are ready to place. You can stack as you wish, we have displayed them graduating upwards.

Price is for the pair – it would be a pity to part them after 90 years or so…

A useful and attractive pair in oak.
